Fresh off the shelves we have the 2015 spring and summer Black Diamond products. Here are our favourites so far:
Black Diamond: Distance Carbon Walking Poles
The Distance Carbon from Black Diamond are a lightweight, long distance walking and trekking pole. The Distance uses Z-Pole technology which makes the pole very easy to deploy due to its 3 section structure. This structure also gives the Distance a very small pack size making it an ideal choice for a hiker looking for lightweight or space saving gear.
This walking pole is 100% carbon fibre so whilst it is light (356g for the pair), it’s also very strong! Also with the Distance you get an extension of the grip just in case you need to extend your grip quickly. The pole snaps quickly into place with a single pole and is held into place with a button, once this button is pushed it allows a quick release to put into your pack.
Black Diamond: Revolt Head Torch
The Revolt head torch from Black Diamond is the perfect head torch for any outdoor activity whether it’s scrambling, trail running or walking the dog, the Revolt is right at home. The Revolt has 130 lumens which I think we can all agree is pretty impressive.
The Black Diamond Revolt has a max distance of 70 metres with an amazing 70 hours of burn time. You have three light setting modes as well as a red light for night vision. The Revolt uses 3 AAA batteries but if you make these batteries rechargeable then you can charge them via the USB so you will never need to take the batteries out. Finally the overall weight of the Revolt including batteries is only 97g!
Black Diamond: Axis 33 Daypack
The Axis from Black Diamond is a great daysack ideal for those who enjoy rock climbing, alpine climbing and even day hiking and scrambling. The Axis 33 uses Black Diamonds ergoACTIV suspension which gives excellent mobility, support and stability, keeping your load perfectly balanced.
This daypack is designed for those who like the vertical living, with two haul loops on the front and back. The Axis has removable 20mm crampon straps, removable padded hip belt and can even hold 2 ice axes or trek poles. There is also a helmet and rope strap making it perfect for any climbing. These straps can be tucked away so there is nothing “dangling” whilst you’re climbing.
Black Diamond: Ion Head Torch
The Ion head torch from Black Diamond is a perfect head torch if you are on a budget. The Ion has 80 lumens of light which is pretty bright! The cool thing about the Ion is that it doesn’t have physical button to turn it on or off instead it uses a touch sensitive panel on the front to turn it on and off. How cool is that!
The Ion uses three main modes as well as having a red LED for night vision. With the batteries the Ion only weighs 48g, now that’s pretty light weight. It also has an IPX 8 waterproof rating. The Ion head torch might be an entry level torch but no matter what you are doing whether it’s climbing, hiking, scrambling, low vis and night time navving it will perform brilliantly!

Black Diamond: Speed 22 Daypack
The Speed 22 daypack from Black Diamond is a lightweight frameless pack with a removable foam bivy back panel. The Speed is idea for those who want a light weight pack for the quick hike, stroll or even light climbs! Due to its frameless design the pack has an ultra-lightweight feel.
It features a yoke style harness, webbing crampon straps and removable webbing waist belt. The pack itself only weighs 536g (which is pretty light weight). The main bag has a under welded seamless construction with reinforcement in critical zones, so no matter what you are doing you are covered. This 22 litre pack is top loading and also has straps for your climbing ropes and pockets for your ice axes and trek poles.
