A step-by-step instructional DVD guide for amateur snowboarders has been launched by the makers of the best selling Skiing Skills series Snowboarding Skills: Beginners and Beyond, released by the Ski Club of Great Britain and The British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI), takes a complete beginner to a stage where they can carve turns and cover most of the mountain.
Produced by Acrobat Television, the DVD also lays the technical foundations for what's to come in the advanced stages of snowboarding. Split into two parts, the first section covers BASI's central theme while the second is a snowboarding masterclass. Part of the DVD is filmed in Manchester's indoor ski slope Chill Factore while the other half is shot in Les Deux Alpes in France.
Presenter Peter Hart said the DVD works at its best when accompanied by real lessons. He said: "I feel that all instructional programmes make a lot more sense when you've actually done a bit. They're the perfect reference library as we not only show the right way but also point out the most common mistakes. In this DVD we have made it our duty to entertain as well as inform."
